Sister Adrienne Kapela

Adrienne Kapela was born on November 8, 1955 in Kisantu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She entered the Postulate of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur on January 9, 1975. She made her Perpetual Vows as an SND in 1986.

She did her higher studies at the Facultés Catholiques de Kinshasa (today: Congo University). After receiving her degree in Theology and Human Sciences, she ministered for some years as a teacher and a Director of the Boarding School. Then she became Prefect of Studies in the Lycée de Kisantu, Lycée de Mpese and in the Lycée de Kisenso, for several years.

Then, she was Assistant Directress of Novices and Junior Sisters for several years. She became a provincial councilor and superior of the local community in Kimwenza. Then, she was the Director of Novices and chosen as a delegate to the General Chapter in 2008. At present, Sr. Adrienne is the Province Moderator of the Congo-Kinshasa Province.
